- Wheelchair Access
- The room can be reached and used in a wheelchair.
- Child-Friendly
- Children are welcome in the room.
- Discussion
- A topic is raised and whoever wants to speak does. You can sit through the whole hour without saying anything.
- Speaker
- One member tells their own story for most of the hour. Nothing is asked of anyone else, which makes it the easiest kind to sit through on a first visit.
- Big Book
- Reading and discussion from Alcoholics Anonymous, the book members call the Big Book.
- Step Study
- The group works through the Twelve Steps in order.
- Literature
- Reading and discussion from AA literature.

Questions about AA in Lisbon
What is listed near Lisbon?
36 inside 15 miles, across 10 cities. Every row says which town it is in and how far.
Which day is busiest for AA in Lisbon?
There is at least one listed every day of the week, including Sunday, which is the thinnest day here with 2 meetings.
What is the difference between an open and a closed meeting in Lisbon?
14 of the 36 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 2 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.
Which AA groups meet in Lisbon?
2 groups listed in Lisbon. A group is the set of people who run a meeting, and most run more than one a week.
Does it cost anything to go to an AA meeting?
Nothing. You can walk in with empty pockets and nobody will know. Most groups ask members rather than visitors, and a newcomer putting in nothing is the ordinary case. The schedule above gives the time and venue for each one.
What happens at my first AA meeting?
The mechanics are plainer than most people expect them to be. People speak one at a time without being interrupted or advised, which is the part that surprises most first timers. That holds across New Hampshire and is not particular to Lisbon.
Do I need treatment as well as meetings?
No. A.A. is a free fellowship that meets regularly and rehab is clinical treatment that costs money. The two are not in competition and the fellowship has no view on treatment either way. Calling about treatment does not commit you to any of it.
