What these mean
- Open
- Anyone may attend, including family, friends and people who are simply curious. Nobody has to say why they came.
- Closed
- For people who have a desire to stop drinking. If you are not sure that is you, an open meeting is the safe first choice.
- Online
- Held online rather than in a room. The row shows the Zoom details where the group publishes them.
- Newcomer
- Aimed at people at their first few meetings. Someone will usually explain how it works before it starts.
- Women
- Only women attend.
- Men
- Only men attend.
- LGBTQ
- Run by and for LGBTQ members.
- Wheelchair Access
- The room can be reached and used in a wheelchair.
- Discussion
- A topic is raised and whoever wants to speak does. You can sit through the whole hour without saying anything.

- One member tells their own story for most of the hour. Nothing is asked of anyone else, which makes it the easiest kind to sit through on a first visit.
