Questions about AA in Neah Bay
How many AA meetings are near Neah Bay?
Neah Bay has 2 meetings in the list above, so it reaches out to 20 miles and picks up 3 in nearby towns.
Can I find a meeting in Neah Bay on any day?
Not every day. Meetings are listed on 5 days, and Sunday and Thursday have nothing.
What is the difference between an open and a closed meeting in Neah Bay?
4 of the 5 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 1 is marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.
How many AA groups are there in Neah Bay?
One group, Backtrackers, and it is linked above with everything it runs.
Why are there so few AA meetings near Neah Bay?
5 meetings inside 20 miles, which is thin. A.A. coverage in the public lists is patchy in rural areas, and a meeting that exists but is not listed anywhere is common.
Is going to meetings enough on its own?
No. Meetings are free and run by members; treatment is paid for and run by staff. If drinking has reached the point where stopping brings on shaking, sweating or worse, that is a medical question and not a willpower one. The schedule above is the meeting side of that for Neah Bay.
Can I go to AA if I am an atheist?
No, and the honest version of the answer is that the language is religious and the requirement is not. A lot of long standing members will tell you they got past the wording by ignoring it for a year. The labels in the table above say where a group has described itself as secular.
Is anyone allowed to go to an AA meeting?
No. People arrive at every stage, including the first day. No group listed here asks for a history, a referral or a diagnosis. That applies at every meeting on the Neah Bay list above.
