Questions about AA in Ontario

What is listed near Ontario?

16 within 20 miles, which is how far this page had to reach to show you a full week. 9 are in Ontario itself.

Can I find a meeting in Ontario on any day?

There is at least one listed every day of the week, including Tuesday, which is the thinnest day here with 1 meeting.

Are the AA meetings in Ontario open to anyone?

14 of the 16 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 2 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.

Does it cost anything to go to an AA meeting?

Not a penny, and no group listed here is permitted to charge. The amounts involved are small and nobody counts who gave what. The basket is passed, and passing it on untouched is entirely normal.

Do I have to call myself an alcoholic to go?

No. Wanting to stop is enough, and being unsure is close enough to that. People turn up having not had a drink in years and people turn up having had one that morning. Going to look is a legitimate reason to go.

What are the twelve steps?

The written core of what A.A. does, and the thing step meetings study. Working them is usually done with a sponsor rather than alone, because several are hard to be honest about by yourself. If you want to know what a step meeting is like, go to one and listen.
