Format
Showing 51 of 51 meetings in Sparta.
Nothing matches all of those at once. Try taking one off.
What these mean
- Open
- Anyone may attend, including family, friends and people who are simply curious. Nobody has to say why they came.
- Closed
- For people who have a desire to stop drinking. If you are not sure that is you, an open meeting is the safe first choice.
- Discussion
- A topic is raised and whoever wants to speak does. You can sit through the whole hour without saying anything.
- Speaker
- One member tells their own story for most of the hour. Nothing is asked of anyone else, which makes it the easiest kind to sit through on a first visit.

How do people choose between AA and NA?
Two organizations that look very similar from a chair at the back. Both hold open meetings that anyone can attend, including family. The two run on the same format, so neither is a leap if you have been to the other.
Will anyone find out that I went to a meeting in Sparta?
You do not have to give a name at all, and nobody will press you. Members are asked to keep what they hear to themselves, and that applies to the person sitting next to you as much as to anyone else. You can leave at any point without explaining why.
