Questions about NA in Portage
How many meetings are near Portage?
5 meetings within 25 miles of Portage, spread across 4 days of the week.
How many of these meetings are open?
Open meetings account for 2 of the 5 above.
Which towns are these meetings in?
Across 3 towns, with Prairie Du Sac with 2, Baraboo with 1 and Wisconsin Dells with 1.
Which meetings have wheelchair access?
Wheelchair access is noted on 5 of the rows above.
What is the difference between NA and AA?
NA does not separate alcohol out from other drugs, which is the main difference between them. The language differs slightly between them, which is noticeable but not important at a first meeting. If you are not sure, try one of each and let the rooms decide it.
Will they turn me away if I am still using?
No. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using, and that is something you decide for yourself. Nobody takes a history, asks for a test, or keeps a record of who was there. Going back a second time matters more than how the first one feels.
What are the twelve steps?
The steps are the long piece of work. Meetings are the weekly part. People take years over them, and there is no schedule anyone is held to. None of this has to be decided before you go to one meeting.
