Do I have to believe in God to go to AA?
No, and the fellowship has spent ninety years arguing about the wording internally. What members take that to mean varies enormously, people who hold no belief at all attend in numbers, and nobody is asked to profess anything. If the language is the sticking point, try two different rooms before deciding, because they really are not alike.
