Questions about AA in Cambridge

How many AA meetings are within driving distance of Cambridge?

Cambridge has 2 meetings in the list above, so it reaches out to 15 miles and picks up 53 in nearby towns.

Which day is busiest for AA in Cambridge?

Every day. Thursday is the busiest with 12 meetings, and no day is empty.

Can I go to a meeting in Cambridge if I am not sure I am an alcoholic?

18 of the 55 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 19 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.

Which AA groups meet in Cambridge?

2 groups listed in Cambridge. A group is the set of people who run a meeting, and most run more than one a week.

Are there morning AA meetings in Cambridge?

The listed start times run from 8am onwards. Times come from the groups themselves and do move, so it is worth checking before a long drive.

How do people choose between AA and NA?

Separate fellowships, separate literature, and a great many members in common. The custom in A.A. rooms is to talk about drinking specifically, which some people find a relief and others find limiting. The labels above say which A.A. meetings here are open.

Is what I say at a meeting kept private?

Anonymity is a tradition members keep rather than a rule anyone can enforce. What gets said in a room is treated as the speaker's own business, and that custom is older than most of the groups listed here. Arriving early is worth it if you would rather not walk in to a full room.

Can I go to AA if I am on medication?

Yes. No group screens for it and none would be entitled to. Rooms differ a good deal on how this gets talked about, and a different room may be a different conversation. Any decision about a prescription belongs with the person who wrote it, not with a meeting.
