Questions about AA in San Diego
How many AA meetings are within driving distance of San Diego?
10 inside 25 miles, across 3 cities. Every row says which town it is in and how far.
Can I find a meeting in San Diego on any day?
Friday and Saturday have nothing listed, and the other 5 days do.
Are the AA meetings in San Diego open to anyone?
7 are marked open here. An open meeting is the safe first choice if you are not sure, and they are labeled in the table above.
How many AA groups are there in San Diego?
One group, San Diego Group, and it is linked above with everything it runs.
Is it a problem to be on antidepressants in AA?
Yes, and plenty of members are on long term prescriptions. If somebody in a room tells you to come off a prescription, they are speaking for themselves and are not qualified to say it. Nobody in a meeting in San Diego is in a position to alter a prescription.
Are online AA meetings as good as going in person?
Yes, though what you get out of each tends to differ. A room in person gives you the conversation afterward, while an online meeting takes travel out of it and makes an unfamiliar hour easier to try. You can try one of each in the same week.
Do I have to believe in God to go to AA?
The steps do mention God and a higher power, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. What members take that to mean varies enormously, people who hold no belief at all attend in numbers, and nobody is asked to profess anything. You can leave before the close if the ending does not suit you.
