Questions about AA in Florence

How many AA meetings a week does Florence have?

30 meetings, spread over 7 days of the week. Saturday is the busiest.

Is there an AA meeting every day in Florence?

There is at least one listed every day of the week, including Sunday, which is the thinnest day here with 4 meetings.

Can I go to a meeting in Florence if I am not sure I am an alcoholic?

Most of what is listed is closed rather than open: 17 closed against 13 open. Closed means it is for people who want to stop drinking themselves.

How many AA groups are there in Florence?

6 groups, the largest being Shady Group with 24 meetings a week.

What should I expect walking into a meeting in Florence?

Nothing dramatic, and nothing that singles out a new person. There is no cross talk at most meetings, meaning nobody responds directly to what you said. If one room does not suit you, another on this page will run quite differently.

Is AA the same as rehab?

They are not the same and neither one is a version of the other. Detox is the clearest dividing line: withdrawing from alcohol can be medically dangerous, and a meeting is not equipped for it while a clinical service is. A meeting is not an assessment, and an assessment is not something a room can give you.

Can I go to a meeting from home?

Either is a legitimate way to start, and plenty of people use both. Many groups run both, with the same members in each. The schedule above lists meetings held in a room, with the venue for each.
