Questions about AA in Stow
What is listed near Stow?
Stow has 6 meetings in the list above, so it reaches out to 5 miles and picks up 20 in nearby towns.
Can I find a meeting in Stow on any day?
Sunday has nothing listed, and the other 6 days do.
Can I go to a meeting in Stow if I am not sure I am an alcoholic?
19 of the 26 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 8 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.
What is the Big Book?
The fellowship's founding text, unchanged in its essentials since the 1930s. Groups usually keep copies in the room and will lend or give one to a newcomer. Literature meetings are flagged in the table where groups say so.
What happens when the person drinking is not ready?
There is no dependable way to make another person go. Open meetings exist partly so that a family member can see what the room actually is. The open meetings in the schedule above are the ones you can attend yourself.
How do people go back to AA after a relapse?
There is no process to re-enter and nobody to explain yourself to. If drinking has resumed heavily, the physical side of stopping again is a medical question and not a moral one. A larger meeting is easier to return to unnoticed.
