Questions about AA in Salem

How many AA meetings are there in Salem?

17 a week, run by 17 groups inside Salem.

Is there an AA meeting every day in Salem?

Every day. Friday is the busiest with 4 meetings, and no day is empty.

Are the AA meetings in Salem open to anyone?

13 are marked open here. An open meeting is the safe first choice if you are not sure, and they are labeled in the table above.

What literature does AA use?

The fellowship's main text, first published in 1939 and still the core of it. Groups usually keep copies in the room and will lend or give one to a newcomer. The schedule gives the day and venue for each one.

Do I have to believe in God to go to AA?

No, though the question is fair: the steps do refer to God and to a higher power, and nobody pretends otherwise. Meetings often close with a prayer, and standing quietly through it or stepping outside are both unremarkable. Plenty of people have made it work without resolving the question at all.
