Showing 16 of 16 meetings in Apex.
Nothing matches all of those at once. Try taking one off.
What these mean
- Open
- Anyone may attend, including family, friends and people who are simply curious. Nobody has to say why they came.
- Closed
- For people who have a desire to stop drinking. If you are not sure that is you, an open meeting is the safe first choice.
- Online
- Held online rather than in a room. The row shows the Zoom details where the group publishes them.
- Newcomer
- Aimed at people at their first few meetings. Someone will usually explain how it works before it starts.
- Women
- Only women attend.
- Discussion
- A topic is raised and whoever wants to speak does. You can sit through the whole hour without saying anything.
- Speaker
- One member tells their own story for most of the hour. Nothing is asked of anyone else, which makes it the easiest kind to sit through on a first visit.
- Big Book
- Reading and discussion from Alcoholics Anonymous, the book members call the Big Book.
- Step Study
- The group works through the Twelve Steps in order.
- Literature
- Reading and discussion from AA literature.

Questions about AA in Apex
What is listed for Apex?
16 a week, run by 9 groups inside Apex.
Can I find a meeting in Apex on any day?
Every day. Monday is the busiest with 4 meetings, and no day is empty.
Can I go to a meeting in Apex if I am not sure I am an alcoholic?
8 of the 16 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 7 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.
What do people read at a Big Book meeting?
The book the steps are printed in, and the one groups read aloud from. Daily Reflections and As Bill Sees It are shorter collections some meetings use instead. The labels above say what each room does.
What happens at a birthday meeting?
A way rooms mark time passing, and nothing anybody has to join in with. Nobody keeps a central record, so the count is the member's own. Going once tells you more about the room than any description.
Will I be asked to say anything in front of people?
No. You can sit through a whole meeting without saying anything. If a chair does come round the room, saying your name or saying nothing are both accepted without comment. The labels in the table above say which rooms are which.
