Questions about AA in South Glens Falls

What is listed near South Glens Falls?

Can I find a meeting in South Glens Falls on any day?

Every day. Monday is the busiest with 10 meetings, and no day is empty.

Can I go to a meeting in South Glens Falls if I am not sure I am an alcoholic?

Most of what is listed is closed rather than open: 24 closed against 20 open. Closed means it is for people who want to stop drinking themselves.

Which AA groups meet in South Glens Falls?

3 groups listed in South Glens Falls. A group is the set of people who run a meeting, and most run more than one a week.

Are there women only meetings near South Glens Falls?

2 of the meetings here are marked women only. Everything else in the table is open to anyone.

What happens at a birthday meeting?

A way rooms mark time passing, and nothing anybody has to join in with. Nobody keeps a central record, so the count is the member's own. An open meeting is the easiest place to watch the custom without taking part.

What happens at my first AA meeting?

It is a good deal more ordinary than the version in films. Nobody is assessed, diagnosed or given a treatment plan, because nobody there is qualified to do any of those things. You can leave whenever you like, including halfway through.

Do I need treatment as well as meetings?

They are not the same and neither one is a version of the other. Detox is the clearest dividing line: withdrawing from alcohol can be medically dangerous, and a meeting is not equipped for it while a clinical service is. Calling about treatment does not commit you to any of it.
