Questions about AA in Bradley Beach

How many AA meetings are within driving distance of Bradley Beach?

47 inside 5 miles, across 8 cities. Every row says which town it is in and how far.

Is there an AA meeting every day in Bradley Beach?

There is at least one listed every day of the week, including Sunday, which is the thinnest day here with 1 meeting.

Are the AA meetings in Bradley Beach open to anyone?

24 of the 47 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 23 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.

Which AA groups meet in Bradley Beach?

2 groups listed in Bradley Beach. A group is the set of people who run a meeting, and most run more than one a week.

What happens at my first AA meeting?

You can expect a room, a circle or rows of chairs, and coffee. You arrive, sit down and listen, and the chair may ask whether anyone is new, which you can answer or let pass. Nobody will ask you to come back, and nobody will chase you if you do not.

Do I have to believe in God to go to AA?

No, though the question is fair: the steps do refer to God and to a higher power, and nobody pretends otherwise. A lot of long standing members will tell you they got past the wording by ignoring it for a year. Nobody will follow up on what you did or did not say.

Do I have to stop drinking before I go to a meeting?

No. People arrive at every stage, including the first day. People turn up having not had a drink in years and people turn up having had one that morning. That applies at every meeting on the Bradley Beach list above.
