Questions about AA in Alpha

What is listed near Alpha?

52 inside 5 miles, across 6 cities. Every row says which town it is in and how far.

Which day is busiest for AA in Alpha?

There is at least one listed every day of the week, including Thursday, which is the thinnest day here with 5 meetings.

Are the AA meetings in Alpha open to anyone?

48 of the 52 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 4 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.

How many AA groups are there in Alpha?

One, and everything it runs is listed above. A group is the set of people who hold a meeting, so one group can account for several entries in the week.

What can I do if someone I love will not go to a meeting?

Less than people want to hear, and more than nothing. What groups can do is be there on the day, which is the limit of it and also the point of it. Al-Anon keeps its own separate schedule, which is worth searching for by name.

How much time does this take?

One hour is the standard, and the chair watches the clock. How long people keep going varies completely: some stop after a few months and others are still going decades later. The start time for each one is in the table above.

What is an AA sponsor?

Someone who has been where you are and remembers it clearly. A sponsor is not a counselor, a therapist or a clinician, has no training and charges nothing, and the good ones are the first to say so. Nobody will pressure you into the arrangement.
