Questions about AA in Grant
What is listed near Grant?
10 inside 25 miles, across 3 cities. Every row says which town it is in and how far.
Which day is busiest for AA in Grant?
Every day. Sunday is the busiest with 2 meetings, and no day is empty.
Are the AA meetings in Grant open to anyone?
9 of the 10 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 1 is marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.
What is the difference between a group and a meeting?
One, and everything it runs is listed above. A group is the set of people who hold a meeting, so one group can account for several entries in the week.
Is AA the same as rehab?
No. One is a room full of members and the other is a clinical service. Detox is the clearest dividing line: withdrawing from alcohol can be medically dangerous, and a meeting is not equipped for it while a clinical service is. If you are weighing the two up, the meetings are the half you can test this week at no cost.
Is AA religious?
No, and plenty of members are atheists who have simply read the word their own way. A lot of long standing members will tell you they got past the wording by ignoring it for a year. You can leave before the close if the ending does not suit you.
What are the twelve steps?
A sequence people work through slowly, rather than a course with a timetable. They start with admitting that drinking has become unmanageable and end with helping other people who are in the same position. If you want to know what a step meeting is like, go to one and listen.
