Questions about AA in Minnesota

How many A.A. meetings does Minnesota have?

This page lists 359 cities in Minnesota, holding 2,014 meetings a week between them. Pick one and the next page gives you its week.

Which city in Minnesota has the most meetings?

That is Saint Paul at 175 a week, which is 9 per cent of everything listed in the state. Then Minneapolis with 166 and Rochester with 62.

My town is not on this page. What now?

Open the nearest city that is. Its page counts what meets within 25 miles as well as what meets in the city, so your town may well be inside somebody else's circle.

Do I have to pay to attend?

No, and there is no membership to buy either. The groups are self supporting, which is where the basket comes from, and it is never asked of a first timer. There is no account to open and no details taken at the door.

What should I expect the first time I go?

Most meetings run an hour, start on time, and look like any other room full of people having a conversation. Nobody will put you on the spot. If you would rather listen for the first month, that is a normal way to start. Sitting near the door is allowed, and so is leaving early.

Can I go if the person I am worried about will not?

Going along by yourself is allowed, and it is more common than people think. It will not get the other person into a room. What it does is tell you what you are dealing with, from people who have been on both sides of it. Going once and deciding it is not for you is a perfectly normal outcome.
