- Men
- Only men attend.
- LGBTQ

- Wheelchair Access

- Discussion
- A topic is raised and whoever wants to speak does. You can sit through the whole hour without saying anything.

- Step Study

Questions about AA in Pittsfield
How many AA meetings are there in Pittsfield?
26 meetings in town, out of 2,564 across Massachusetts.
Can I find a meeting in Pittsfield on any day?
Every day. Tuesday is the busiest with 5 meetings, and no day is empty.
Are the AA meetings in Pittsfield open to anyone?
22 of the 26 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 3 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.
What is an AA sponsor?
Someone further along who agrees to take your calls and answer honestly. A sponsor is not a counselor, a therapist or a clinician, has no training and charges nothing, and the good ones are the first to say so. You do not need one to go to your first meeting, or your tenth.
How do people work the steps?
A set of suggestions rather than instructions, in the fellowship's own phrasing. Nobody is required to work them in order to attend, and plenty of people go to meetings for a long time first. A discussion meeting is a gentler first visit than a step meeting.
Can I go to AA before I have stopped?
Yes. The only usual expectation is that you let other people speak. Groups generally ask only that someone who has been drinking does not disrupt the meeting, and a quiet person at the back never does. Going once is a complete thing to do.
