Questions about AA in Idaho
How many A.A. meetings are there in Idaho?
550 meetings a week, spread across 67 cities. That is what is in the published lists for Idaho, and a group that has never registered is in none of them.
What is the busiest city in Idaho?
Boise, with 114 a week. Then Nampa with 57 and Meridian with 37.
What if my city is not listed?
Start with the nearest city on the list. If nothing within reach works, the helpline on this page is answered around the clock and is not limited to meetings.
What happens at a first A.A. meeting?
Most meetings run an hour, start on time, and look like any other room full of people having a conversation. Newcomers are usually asked if there is anybody new, and you can stay quiet through that too. Plenty of people sit through their first few without speaking. Trying two or three different meetings is normal. Rooms vary a lot, and the first one you walk into is not the only kind.
Can I do this without going into a room?
Online and telephone meetings both exist, and neither asks you to be anywhere in particular. People who live somewhere with one meeting a week often use online ones to fill the other six nights. If getting out of the house is the barrier, this is the part to use first.
Which meetings can anybody go to?
An open meeting takes all comers. A closed one is for people who want to stop. The closed ones are not harder to get into. They are narrower in who they are for, and you are the only judge of whether that is you. If you are going along to support somebody, look for the open ones.
