Nothing matches all of those at once. Try taking one off.
What these mean
- Open

- Closed
- For people who have a desire to stop drinking. If you are not sure that is you, an open meeting is the safe first choice.

- Aimed at people at their first few meetings. Someone will usually explain how it works before it starts.
- Women
- Only women attend.
- Men
- Only men attend.
- Discussion
- A topic is raised and whoever wants to speak does. You can sit through the whole hour without saying anything.
- Speaker
- One member tells their own story for most of the hour. Nothing is asked of anyone else, which makes it the easiest kind to sit through on a first visit.
- Big Book
- Reading and discussion from Alcoholics Anonymous, the book members call the Big Book.
- Step Study
- The group works through the Twelve Steps in order.
- Literature
- Reading and discussion from AA literature.

Questions about AA in Sandy Springs
What is listed near Sandy Springs?
74 within 10 miles, which is how far this page had to reach to show you a full week. 7 are in Sandy Springs itself.
Can I find a meeting in Sandy Springs on any day?
Every day. Monday is the busiest with 16 meetings, and no day is empty.
Are the AA meetings in Sandy Springs open to anyone?
41 of the 74 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 31 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.
Which AA groups meet in Sandy Springs?
6 groups listed in Sandy Springs. A group is the set of people who run a meeting, and most run more than one a week.
Will anyone find out that I went to a meeting in Sandy Springs?
No. First names are the custom and even that is not asked of a visitor. Nobody in the room is a professional and nobody is keeping notes. The listings above carry times and places and nothing about who attends.
Is anyone allowed to go to an AA meeting?
Nobody checks, and nobody is turned away for being unsure. A desire to stop is also compatible with not being certain you want to stop, which is where most people actually are. You can go once and never come back, and nobody will mind.
What is the best meeting to start with?
The honest advice is to pick for logistics first and format second. If a particular room does not suit you, it says nothing about the next one. It is worth checking with the group before a long drive.
